Welcome to the Albanian Ministry of Education and Science’s School Infrastructure Management System (SIMS)
|
|
|
SIMS is an interactive, multi-user school infrastructure management tool that provides
access to up-to-date, searchable information on the infrastructure status and needs
of each of Albania’s pre-University schools.
The information provided was collected during a national audit undertaken throughout
2011. It is updated on an annual basis, with the next update scheduled for March
2012.
SIMS supports people involved in making decisions – from the Ministry of Education
and Science to Regional Education Directorates, to Local Government Units, to Educational
Offices – about school infrastructure investment to make informed choices based
on accurate data.
SIMS provides more than 2 million pieces of information including: heating and lighting
needs, bathroom needs, water supply and sanitation, classroom sizes, internet capabilities etc.
This information can be downloaded in standard, printable reports that cover 11 thematic areas.
SIMS is also linked to a Geographic Information System
(GIS) that generates on-demand, high-quality maps that can help planners decide
a range of issues including where new schools are needed, where transport systems
are required, etc.
You will need a username and password to login to SIMS. If you believe
that you should have access, contact SIMS administrator directly.
SIMS was developed for the Albanian Ministry of Education and Science with support from WYG International, through the EU-funded Infrastructure Projects Facility, part of the Western Balkans Investment Framework.
